That year Mary Portas made recommendations to Government to hold a national market day and NABMA took up the banner making Love Your Local Market what it is today. Last year 1,200 of the UK’s markets took part, making it the biggest markets event for a generation. To date over 10,000 opportunities have been made available to startups with operators offering incentivised pitches to test trade during Love Your Local Market.
Today’s entrepreneurs are starting restaurants, selling wholesale and expanding their businesses by selling online whilst retaining the market side of their operation to train staff, gain customer feedback and hold on to an edgy brand image.
